Great Christmas Lights in Our Area!

Here are a few suggestions for Great Christmas Lights in our area!!

If you know of any others, please email me and I will be happy to post them.

••The first one is off of Hillsboro Road:

*For those of you new to the area, the start of Hillsboro Road North out of Franklin is at Starbucks on Main Street in Downtown Franklin.
*Travel past Fieldstone Farms
*Travel past Berry's Chapel Road
*Travel past Manley Road
*Travel past Sneed Road

After Sneed Road, Sunny Side Drive is on the right. It is a street that ends in a court and the house is at the end. You will see why it is called "Sunny Side Drive". ;O

••The second on is off of Murfreesboro Road East:

*From I-65, travel past Arno Road
* Travel past North Chapel Road
* (There might be one more small street on the right, map did not show a name.)

Nestledown Farms Addition ~ (turn right) ~ end of court ~ George and Nancy Jones.

(If you see Trinity Road, you have gone too far.)

••The third one is out Franklin Road:

*Take Franklin Road, North out of Downtown Franklin
*Travel past Longstreet Drive
*Travel past Heathrow Blvd.

Fountainhead Drive and Addition is the next street on the left.

This is a community that has beautiful homes...

and usually beautiful lights.

The homes are set up in the hills, so the lights are extra pretty.

I will have to say that last year...

the lights seemed to have been better here.

But with our current economic situation,

I would guess that some people chose to forgo the lights this year.

Hopefully, next Christmas will be different!!

But it is still worth the drive!

Also, there is the Opryland Hotel in Nashville.

If you want to make it a totally free visit,

park in the Opry Mills Mall parking lot closest

to the Delta Atruim and you will forgo the $12.00

or more to valet park in the Hotel parking lot.

It is a short walk and there is a walkway.

One more is Trinity City USA in Hendersonville, TN.

A. NO...YOU ARE LIABLE AND WILL HAVE YOUR CAR TOWED!
You MAY park on Stanwick Drive, the street that you enter into Andover off of Liberty Pike.
Please refer to the March Archived Post titled
"Parking Letter from the Board of Directors".

Q. What day is trash day?

A. Monday ~ Your roll out container needs to be facing curb by 7:00 on Monday morning. Facing the curb, because the trash truck has an automated arm that comes out and picks up your container.

Q. Am I responsible for my deck?

A. Yes ~ as stated in the Covenants on page 10. Please note the brand of stain and the 2 colors of stain that are to be used on the last page of the Rules and Regulations. (#10)

Q. How do I receive a new key for my mail box?

A. You must contact the Post Office. Their information is as follows:

Q. I want to have a garage sale...what do I need to do?

A. The Board of Directors approve 2 dates (Spring and Fall) per year for yard/garage sales. No yard sales are permitted outside these dates.
You need to apply for a permit from the City of Franklin.
The cost is $5.00. Click on the word "permit" and you will see the Rules and Regulations from the City and the link to print out the permit and the address to send it to the City. Or you may apply online, which requires an additional $3.00.

History of Williamson County and Franklin, TN

Before European settlers came to Williamson County, the area was a Native American hunting ground. Nomadic Creeks, Chickasaws and Cherokees hunted the valleys and fished the streams. These Native Americans jealously guarded their hunting grounds, and there were many conflicts with the first settlers.

Another group of Native Americans inhabited Williamson County before the nomadic hunters. These earlier Native Americans had a highly developed culture, living in towns and farming the land. They had a custom of building mounds, perhaps for religious purposes. The most famous of the Native American towns are Old Town on Natchez Trace and Boling Springs Mounds on Moores Lane. Mounds may still be seen today at both of these sites.

The first European settlers came into Williamson County in the late 1700's. The earliest Williamson County settlers came from Fort Nashboro into the Mill Creek Valley and then into the Harpeth Valley.

The City of Franklin was founded October 26, 1799 and was named after Benjamin Franklin, a close friend of Dr. Hugh Williamson, a member of the Continental Congress for whom Williamson County was named. For most of its first 180 years, Franklin was a tranquil, small county seat. In the years prior to the Civil War, Williamson County was one of the wealthiest counties in Tennessee and Franklin the center of plantation economy. Two Presidents made visits to Franklin and three Secretaries of War were from the immediate area.

However, the Civil War devastated the economy. Union troops occupied the area for nearly three years. The Battle of Franklin was fought on November 30, 1864, and was one of the war's bloodiest battles, costing more than 8,000 casualties and turning every home and building in town into a hospital.

It took 120 years for the county's economy to reach pre-war levels. For more than a century, Franklin seemed remote not only from Nashville, but from the rest of the world as well.

Today, Franklin is one of the wealthiest cities in one of the wealthiest counties in the United States. The 2000 Census lists the City's population at just under 42,000. Our recently completed 2004 Special Census lists the City's population at just over 46,000. This makes us the 10th largest city in Tennessee and the fastest growing.
